Eastern Workshop 2007
Chilhowee Gliderport, Benton, Tennessee
May 18-20, 2007

The Eastern ESA Workshop will be held again in 2007 at Chilhowee Gliderport in southeastern Tennessee.  We enjoyed the 2006 event so much that we decided to hold it again at Chilhowee.

"A possible featured topic for 2007 will be the evolution, construction, and performance of Schreder sailplanes (the HP- series).   The Workshop will also include the usual updates on members' projects, demonstrations, and, of course, flying.  A full agenda will be published in early Spring.

"Last year we were favored by beautiful flying weather on Saturday, our main day, and we're hoping for a repeat this year (May is the good flying season at Chilhowee).  Last year, 11 members got to fly 9 different kinds of sailplanes.  If you missed last year, don't miss this year -- it promises to be even better.  If you don't have your own sailplane, no matter.  You can rent one at the field.  If you don't fly, no matter.  The presentations, demonstrations, Saturday barbecue, and general fellowship are well worth it.

"Chilhowee Gliderport has a 2600-ft grass runway, and is adjacent to a ridge of the Cherokee National Forest, offering good ridge soaring when the wind is right.  Available for rent at Chilhowee are two Blaniks, a Ka-7, a Ka-6, and a Silent 2 (pure glider version).  The Gliderport offers on-field camping, and the nearby Sleep Inn offers special low rates to Gliderport customers.  There are also numerous log cabins for rent nearby, and plenty of hiking, boating, and biking activities available in the surrounding area.

"Hope to see you all there, May 18-20, 2007." ... Contact: <    >
